MANCHESTER, NH- Jamie Romak broke a 2-2, seventh-inning tie with his third home run in two games and the Altoona Curve pulled away with a 7-2 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Saturday evening at Merchantsauto.com Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Romak, who homered twice and knocked in six runs in Friday's series-opening, 12-0 win over the Fisher Cats, touched up reliever Seth Overbey (3-3) for a long blast over the left-field fence to give Altoona a 3-2 lead in the seventh. The longball was Romak's fifth with the Curve and his 23rd overall to lead all Pirates' minor leaguers. Altoona (55-73) never relinquished the lead and scored one insurance run in the eighth and three more in the ninth to seal their fifth win over the first 10 games of their season-long, 11-game road trip.

The Curve scored their first two runs of the contest on solo home runs by Shelby Ford and Jose Tabata. Ford's homer came on the second pitch of the game from New Hampshire right-hander and former Pittsburgh Pirate Marty McLeary to give Altoona an early lead. The blast was Ford's fourth of the season. Tabata broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth with his first Curve home run and his fourth including his time with Trenton in the Eastern League.

The three home runs were part of 15 hits enjoyed by the Curve offense just one night after posting 18 hits in Friday's series opener. Ford, Tabata and Melvin Dorta each had three hits, while Romak and Angel Gonzalez each recorded two safeties.

Jared Hughes (2-1) allowed only two runs -- one earned -- over six innings to earn his second win in three starts since his second call-up from Class-A Lynchburg. The 6-foot-7 righty walked three batters and struck out four. Hughes allowed a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to Erik Kratz, but was credited with the win thanks to Romak's go-ahead homer in the seventh.

Juan Mateo finished the game for Altoona, tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts to notch his third save.

Altoona will go for a series sweep against the Fisher Cats Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Right-hander Yoslan Herrera (5-9, 3.44) is expected to be activated from the Disabled List to make the start for the Curve against New Hampshire righty Jean Machi (2-5, 4.98). Fans can hear the action on the Curve Radio Network and on-line at AltoonaCurve.com starting at 12:50 with the Curve GameDay Show presented by the Hotel Belmar and Budget Beverage.
