Harrisburg Senators News Release

Portland, ME - The Harrisburg Senators put together another big inning, but not much else in a 6-5 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs, Saturday night at Hadlock Field. The Senators put the go-ahead run in scoring position in the 9th inning but couldn't come up with the clutch hit.

Home runs accounted for much of the offense early in the game. Portland got a pair of home runs in the 2nd inning: a solo shot by Aaron Bates and a two-run homer by Josh Reddick to put the Sea Dogs ahead, 3-0.

In the 3rd, the Senators came back with three runs of their own. Mike Daniel drilled a two-run home run to right-center and Seth Bynum clubbed the next pitch over the wall in center to tie the game at 3-3.

The Sea Dogs came right back in the bottom of the 3rd. Jorge Jimenez and Bryan Pritz led off with back-to-back doubles to make it 4-3. Zach Daeges followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Bates then grounded into a double play, but Pritz scored to give the Sea Dogs a 5-3 advantage.

In the 4th, Iggy Suarez doubled home a run to make it 6-3.

The Senators loaded the bases with nobody out in the 5th and scored when Jemel Spearman hit a fly ball into shallow right that was ruled an out due to the infield fly rule. The ball was dropped and Javi Herrera scored to cut it to 6-4. Harrisburg could not score any further despite the golden opportunity.

Harrisburg made it even closer in the top of the 9th when Bynum lined an RBI single to cut it to 6-5. The Senators loaded the bases with two out for Marvin Lowrance, but he was retired to end the game.

RHP Bobby Brownlie took the loss to fall to 8-3. Portland LHP Dustin Richardson recorded the win, his first in over a month, to even his record at 7-7. RHP T.J. Large finished it out to notch his first save of the year.

The Senators dropped to 68-60. Portland improved to 67-57.

The Senators and Sea Dogs finish the three-game series Sunday at 1:00 PM. LHP Justin Jones (2-4, 5.02 ERA) takes on Portland RHP Adam Mills (0-4, 4.74 ERA).
