Connecticut Defenders News Release
ERIE, PA- In just two games played all season long between Connecticut and Erie, the Sea Wolves are quick to figure the Defenders out as they cruised to an 8-2 win in game 2 of the best of 3 series.
Erie scored a pair of runs in all the odd innings except for the ninth. They took an early lead in the first with an RBI single by Skelton to plate Rhymes who singled earlier and Ramirez capped off the two run first with an RBI double.
The Defenders got a leadoff triple by Richardson in the third inning and scored quickly on a Haines groundout to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
The Sea Wolves responded with their second pair of runs with another Ramirez RBI double but this time he drove in Skelton and Wells who singled for a 4-1 Wolves lead. Erie added a pair of runs in the fifth and got another in the seventh with a soaring two run blast by Casper Wells his second in the past two days.
Olmo Rosario leadoff the ninth inning with his seventh homerun and just the second Defenders run of the game.
Erie starter Luke French (7-11) went the distance for his third complete game all season while giving up just two runs off of seven hits and striking out six, his second best. Defenders starter Dave McKae (7-7) suffered the loss even though he tied his season high with six strikeouts.
