ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves take on the Reading Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies) in the final game of a three-game series at First Energy Stadium. The SeaWolves dropped their third straight and second to the R-Phils by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday night. The loss dropped the SeaWolves to 2.5 games behind the wild card leading Phillies. Following tonight's game, the SeaWolves and R-Phils have 12 games remaining on the regular season schedule. Erie finishes with three four game series against ALT, HAR and AKR while Reading finishes with a four game series at BOW, a three game series at NBR and a five game series at CON...Erie needs a win tonight to cut the Reading lead down to 1.5 games in the race. Erie has dropped three straight games by three runs or fewer and in all three of those games the 'Wolves have held leads...The SeaWolves road struggles have carried into late August as the club, with a loss last night, dropped their fifth straight road series. Erie is a league-worst 23-39 on the road and since July 8, the SeaWolves have gone 5-16 on the road...Erie's lead over fourth place Bowie has been cut down to a half game after the Baysox swept Akron in a
doubleheader on Wednesday...Righty Thad Weber has been the most consistent starter for the 'Wolves over the last month and a half. Since July 13, Weber has gone 6-1 with a no-decision. In August, he is 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA and he is the reigning EL Pitcher of the Week...OF Andy Dirks has been activated from the disabled list. Dirks has been sidelined since August 16 with a sore left wrist...RHP Pat Stanley has been placed on the disabled list with right shoulder soreness.
