Indiana Mad Ants News Release

Fort Wayne, IN (April 10th, 2009) - In Fort Wayne's final home game of the year, the Mad Ants lost to the Erie BayHawks, 99-105 in front of a sold out crowd at Memorial Coliseum. With the win Erie clinches a play-off spot.

The Mad Ants sprinted out to an early 15-2 lead. Despite the absence of recently named Second Team All-D-League center Chris Hunter, Fort Wayne lead by as many as 16 in the first quarter.

Erie found a bit of their rhythm and cut the margin to 8 with five and a half minutes to play in the second. Fort Wayne didn't slow down for long though, thanks in part to 18 first half points from center Coleman Collins. As the teams entered the locker rooms, the home squad held a twenty-two point advantage, ahead 61-39.

The BayHawks turned it up in the third and drew within 9 with twelve minutes to play, 73-82.

Erie kept the momentum rolling, cutting the deficit to 1 midway through the fourth quarter and would take the lead for the first time at 92-91. Fort Wayne couldn't get the defensive stops they needed, and Erie escaped with the victory.

Maurice Rice led all scorers with 36 points. Erie also saw solid contribution from Erik Daniels with 23 and Oliver Lafayette with 18.

Collins powered the Mad Ants with a season high 31, while Ron Howard scored 19 and Anthony Kent finished with 18.

These two teams will meet once more to finish the season Saturday night in Erie.
