RIO GRANDE VALLEY'S JAWAD WILLIAMS SIGNS WITH CLEVELAND
The Cleveland Cavaliers today signed forward Jawad Williams of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers making him the 21st GATORADE Call-Up of the 2008-09 NBA Development League season. Williams, a 6-9 forward from North Carolina, has appeared in 19 games, 18 starts, for the Vipers this season and is averaging 25.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
ALBUQUERQUE'S MOUHAMED SENE SIGNS WITH NEW YORK KNICKS
The New York Knicks signed Mouhamed Sene of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds making him the 22nd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2008-09 NBA Development League season. Sene joins 77 other NBA players with NBA D-League experience. Sene, a 7-0 center from Senegal, has appeared in 10 games, nine starts, for the Thunderbirds this season and is averaging 10.0 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.7 blocks. He has scored in double figures seven times, including five points/rebounds double-doubles.
AUSTIN'S DEMARCUS NELSON SIGNS WITH CHICAGO BULLS
The Chicago Bulls today signed DeMarcus Nelson of the Austin Toros making him the 23rd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2008-09 NBA Development League season. Nelson joins 78 other NBA players with NBA D-League experience. Nelson, a 6-4 guard from Duke, has appeared in 11 games, 10 starts, since joining the Toros on March 10, 2009 and is averaging 23.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 41.4 minutes.
THURSDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Thursday's games:
Ryan Forehan-Kelly scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Brandon Heath and Charlie Parker each chipped in 20 points. Earl Barron posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Dwayne Mitchell scored 14 and Mickael Gelabab added 13.
Reno was led by Richie Frahm's 18 points and David Noel recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds. Russell Robinson added 16 points, nine boards and seven assists. Daryl Dorsey scored 16 points off the bench.
Curtis Stinson's double-double, 27 points and 15 assists, propelled the Iowa Energy. Also posting double-doubles were Othyus Jeffers with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Denham Brown with 25 and 11. Demetris Nichold scored 22 and John Edwards added 20 to round out Energy players in double digit scoring.
Six Wizard players scored in double-digits, including Maurice Baker, notching a double-double with 15 points and 12 assists. Renaldo Major led with 25 points and Romel Beck added 20.
