April 10, 2009 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
NEW YORK, April 10, 2009 - The Denver Nuggets today re-assigned Sonny Weems to the Colorado 14ers, the Nuggets' NBA Development League affiliate. Weems' re-assignment is the 44th of the season.
The 6-6 guard/forward re-joins the 14ers following two previous assignments (Dec. 10, 2008 - Jan 6, 2009 and March 6, 2009 - March 31, 2009), when Weems averaged 20.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 19 games. During his second assignment to the 14ers, Weems scored 36 points shooting 15-of-22 from the field to go with nine rebounds in a 119-103 win over the Erie BayHawks on March 27.
Originally selected by the Chicago Bulls in the second round (39th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, Weems was traded to the Nuggets on Draft night. A four-year contributor at Arkansas, Weems averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists en route to being named First Team All-SEC by the league's coaches during his senior season.
Weems is expected to join the 14ers today and be available when the team faces the Utah Flash in Orem, Utah tonight.
