Energy Fall to Canton Charge

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (24-22) fell 99-90 to the Grand Rapids Drive (28-17) Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Damien Wilkins with 18 points, Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jarnell Stokes recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Larry Owens also had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Willie Reed added 16 points. Brandon Paul led the Charge with 29 points and nine rebounds.

Canton got out to a quick start in the first, opening up an 11-point lead. Willie Reed would lead an Iowa run to pull within two points at the end of the quarter. Canton led 23-21 heading into the second quarter. Reed led Iowa with eight points. The Charge opened up a 13-point lead in the second quarter as they outscored Iowa 28-17 to take a 51-38 halftime lead. Damien Wilkins heated up in the second for nine points to lead Iowa. Brandon Paul had 19 first half points for Canton to lead all scorers.

The Energy came out hot to start the third quarter. They pulled within five points of the Charge halfway through the quarter. Iowa outscored the Charge 29-22 in the third to trail 73-67. In the fourth, Iowa fought hard to come back from their deficit. With 6:01 remaining, the Energy were only down three. Canton went on a 7-0 run to pull out of reach for an Energy comeback. Iowa would fall to Canton 99-90.

Iowa plays at home Sunday against the Canton Charge at 4 P.M.
