
Blue, D-Fenders Beat Mad Ants at the Buzzer

EL SEGUNDO - Vander Blue hit the game-winning shot to push the D-Fenders past the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 108-106 tonight in El Segundo.
Los Angeles (16-32) was led by Jamaal Franklin, who tallied his second triple-double in three games with 19 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, while Will Sheehey tallied 19 points and seven rebounds. Vander Blue (14 points, five rebounds, five assists), Jarvis Varnado (14 points, eight rebounds), Roscoe Smith (13 points, nine rebounds), Andre Ingram (10 points) and Eloy Vargas (10 points) all scored in double-figures for the D-Fenders.
Jordan Crawford (27 points) paced the Mad Ants (26-22), while CJ Fair (23 points, 11 rebounds), Ramon Harris (19 points) and Trey McKinney-Jones (13 points, five assists) all reached double-digits for Fort Wayne.
Fort Wayne outscored Los Angeles 27-25 in the first quarter, behind 11 points from Crawford. The D-Fenders found their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring the Mad Ants 33-26 behind eight points apiece from Sheehey and Blue. Los Angeles headed into the halftime break with a 58-55 lead.
The third quarter was a stalemate, with both teams tallying 26 points. Franklin had eight for the D-Fenders, who took an 84-79 lead into the final frame. The Mad Ants were able to outscore the D-Fenders 27-24 in the fourth quarter behind 10 points from Fair, but with the game all knotted at 106 and just seconds remaining, Blue followed up a missed shot with a lay-up that just beat the buzzer. The D-Fenders would record a 108-106 victory.
The D-Fenders shot .462, compared to .435 for the Mad Ants. Los Angeles connected on 32 free throws, while Fort Wayne tallied 18. The D-Fenders outrebounded the Mad Ants 51-39.
The D-Fenders head to Austin, TX on April 3rd to face the Austin Spurs at 5:30pm PT.
