DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Energy moved their D-League best record to 19-5 with a 112-101 victory Saturday night over Ft. Wayne. A balanced scoring attack, featuring six players in double figures, led the Energy to the win. The victory marked the fifth win by the Energy over Ft. Wayne in as many games this season.
Iowa took a five point lead into halftime and extended it to ten points at the end of the third quarter as Pat Carroll and Marvin Phillips combined to score 17 points in the frame. The Energy extended the lead to 16 in the fourth quarter before coasting to the 11 point win.
Iowa outrebounded Ft. Wayne 49-39 on the night while shooting 51.6% from the field for the game.
Energy guard Carroll led the way with 24 points while Iowa big men Earl Barron (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Phillips (12 points, 14 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles in the victory.
Ft. Wayne was led by former Energy player Rashad Anderson's 24 points. Rob Kurz added 21 points for the Mad Ants, who fell to 9-15 with the loss.
Iowa hosts Ft. Wayne again Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The game features "Benny the Bull" bobbleheads for the first 1,000 fans. "Benny" will be in attendance as the game will be aired nationally on Versus.
