Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release
ERIE, PENNSLYVANIA - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers went on two big runs during the first 15 minutes of the game to breeze past the Erie BayHawks, 110-88, tonight at Tulio Arena.
Down 16-11 5:30 into the game, the Vipers (16-6) went on a 12-2 run thanks in part to two buckets each by Mike Harris and Antonio Anderson to take a 23-17 lead that they never relinquished. After Kyle Goldclamp converted a three-point play to make it a one-possession game, the Vipers went on a 10-0 run over the next 4:45 to take a 33-20 lead at the 9:26 mark of the second quarter. The Vipers maintained that lead into halftime, up 49-35.
The BayHawks (10-14) closed the third and opened the fourth quarter on an 11-0 run to get within 85-76 with 10:17 remaining. The Vipers responded with a 5-0 run to put the game away for good.
The reigning NBA Development League Performer of the Week, Harris led all scorers with 34 points and 10 rebounds. It was his seventh double-double of the season. Anderson finished with 13 points while Ernest Scott chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds off the bench. Will Conroy recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 assists.
The BayHawks were led by Ivan Harris, who scored 20 points to go with seven rebounds. Former-Viper Cliff Clinckscales finished with 11 points, four rebounds and eight assists.
The Vipers conclude this four-game road trip with a rematch against the BayHawks tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. The Vipers now have eight road wins. A win tomorrow will tie the Vipers franchise record for most road wins in a season, accomplished last season.
