January 22, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
ALBUQUERQUE, NM, Jan. 22, 2010 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds will be hosting the 5th annual Hoops For Education game on February 2, 2010 at 10:30am at Tingley Coliseum. Hoops For Education gives students the opportunity to attend a special morning T-Birds basketball game and witness the real life application of math, physical education, social studies, science, language arts and character development in a fun and interactive environment.
The educational partnership was developed to include a broad based elementary and middle school curriculum. The team has worked directly with the Center for Hands on Learning to develop a curriculum and lesson plan that uses basketball as the basis. By actively seeking to relate professional sports achievement with achievement in the classroom, the Thunderbirds can help capture the attention of students and keep them fully engaged and attentive in learning. This game is truly a reward for the hard work and dedication that they make to education.
In order to allow as many schools and students as possible attend this game for FREE, the Tbirds are looking for corporate and individual donors. This unique opportunity allows for a gift of learning and fun to each student. Sponsorship is available for as little as $100 to provide this opportunity to 10 students. Each sponsor will then receive group tickets, comparable to their sponsorship level, to attend the Tbirds home game the following night, Wednesday, February 3 at 7pm at Tingley Coliseum. The team will match each donation and all donors will be recognized on the "Thank You" page of the team's website and mentioned on our radio partner.
