Energy Acquire Guard Mike Taylor

DES MOINES, IA, February 4, 2011- The Iowa Energy have acquired former Iowa State guard Mike Taylor via the NBA D-League waiver pool the team announced today.

Taylor was selected in the 2nd round of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers and immediately traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, becoming the first player to ever be selected in the NBA Draft after playing that season in the D-League .

The 6'3" guard played in 49 games with the Clippers, averaging 5.7 points and 2.1 assists per game. On March 25, 2009 he scored a career high 35 points at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks.

As a member of the NBA D-League's Idaho Stampede during the 2007-2008 season, Taylor averaged 14.5 points and 4.2 assists per game, helping the Stampede win the 2008 D-League Championship.

Taylor spent the 2009-2010 season in Serbia. He is expected to be in uniform tonight as the Energy play their 131st consecutive game in 1st place; against the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

To make room for Taylor, the Energy placed guard Jason Bohannon on waivers.
