Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

CHILLICOTHE, OH - A throwing error by Windy City ThunderBolt 3B John Santor in the bottom of the eleventh on infield single by Paints CF Matt Cooksey lifted the Chillicothe Paints to a 3-2 win on Friday night.

With Luke Barganier at second and two outs in the eleventh, Cooksey hit a ground ball down the third base line that Santor scooped and threw across the diamond to 1B Steve Ketter. The throw short-hopped Ketter and rolled into shallow right field. Barganier came around to score the winning run for the Paints walk-off win.

Windy City (28-38) closer Brian Beuning (0-5) was the loser after lasting an inning and two-thirds and allowed the un-earned run. Chillcothe's (38-23) John Martinez (1-0) was the winner after throwing a perfect top half of the eleventh. Martinez was acquired from Chillicothe after being released by Windy City earlier in the season. Martinez was 0-4 with an ERA of 6.00 before his release.

Chillcothe got on the board first with an RBI single by Jeff Parrish in the second inning to score Travis Garcia, who singled to lead off the inning. Windy City responded with two in the seventh to take a 2-1 lead. Mike Forbes hit a two RBI double to score John Santor and Steve Ketter. Santor singled to lead off the inning. Ketter reached on an error by Paints 1B John Ramistella on a sacrifice attempt.

Chillcothe tied in the eighth on an RBI single by Adrian Cantu to score Ramistella, who led off the inning with a walk. The score remained tied at two until the winning run scored in the eleventh.

Neither starter factored in the decision after dueling to no-decisions. Windy City starter Toro Trevino lasted 8 innings and allowed two runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out five. Chillcothe starter Kurt Hartfelder lasted 7.2 innings and gave up both ThunderBolt runs, only one earned, on five hits while walking two and striking out three.

At press time, Rockford, Evansville, and Gateway were all losing to their opponents. If the pattern holds, Windy City would remain eight back of Rockford, 4.5 behind Evansville, and one behind Gateway.

Windy City continues their six game road trip tomorrow in River City. First pitch is 7:05pm Central Time. Windy City sends RHP Preston Simms (4-6, 3.25 ERA) against Adam Tyler (1-0, 4.82 ERA).
