
Eighth Inning Rally Leads To 4-3 Win

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries (8-8) rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out a 4-3 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (7-9). The win came in front of 4,304 fans at the Birdcage on "Missouri River Energy Fireworks Night."
The Saltdogs scored first for the third straight game. Corey Harrington led off the first inning with a double and advanced all the way around the bases on a two bases error by third baseman, Matt Imwalle, giving the Saltdogs a 1-0 lead.
The Canaries took the run back in the bottom of the third inning. Scott Lydy singled and advanced to second on an error by Saltdogs' shortstop, Corey Harrington. Juan Figueroa reached on a fielder's choice and Lydy crossed home on Harrington's second error of the inning, tying the game 1-1.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Ross McCoy doubled to left and came around to score on an RBI single by Harrington to give the Saltdogs a 2-1 advantage.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Tim Marks singled, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Marks went to third on a ground out by Lydy and came home on the second wild pitch of the inning. At the end of five, the game was tied 2-2.
The Saltdogs took the lead back in the top of the seventh inning. Jay Yaconetti led off with a single and came around to score on an RBI double by Ross McCoy, giving the Saltdogs a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Canaries took their first lead of the series. Ben Van Iderstine and Trevor Lawhorn hit back-to-back singles. Imwalle followed with a bloop double down the left field line, scoring Van Iderstine from second, and tying the game, 3-3. After, Tim Marks walked to load the bases, Scott Lydy hit a single driving in Lawhorn, to give the Canaries the 4-3 lead and final run of the game.
Kelly Casares (3-2) earned the win in relief for the Birds. Mark Roberts (5-2) suffered the loss for the Saltdogs. Jerrod Fuell earned his league-leading 15th save.
The Canaries and Saltdogs wrap up their series Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. Sunday is "Bark in the Park" presented by Hidden Paradise Pet Resort where fans can bring their canine friends to the Birdcage. Dogs will be admitted for free with a paid adult ticket.
