Trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Canaries scored two runs on four hits to take their first lead of the game. With a one-run lead in the top of the ninth inning, closer Jerrod Fuell, the closest thing to a sure thing the American Association has came in to close the game for Sioux Falls and earned his league-leading 15th save. The middle of the Canaries lineup led the way, as LF Ben Van Iderstine, 2B Trevor Lawhorn and 3B Matt Imwalle all went 2-for-4 on the night. For the Saltdogs, 2B Josh Patton went 4-for-4, but came to the plate only once with a runner in scoring position. With the win, Sioux Falls second-half record is now an even .500 at 8-8.

Pensacola 6, Fort Worth 4

The Pelicans scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed en route to their sixth win of the second half. Pensacola was led offensively by LF Napoleon Calzado. Calzado hit his third home run of the season to highlight a 2-for-5 night. For the Cats, DH Steven Trout went 3-for-4 with a run. Fort Worth pulled within one run in the bottom of the fourth inning, but that was as close as they would get. Fort Worth still sits atop the South Division standings at 11-4, 1.5 games ahead of El Paso.

St. Joe 4, Shreveport 3 (13 innings)

After 10-and-a-half innings, it appeared as though Shreveport was going to get a hard-fought 11-inning victory over the Blacksnakes. But after surrendering two runs in the top of the 11th inning, the Blacksnakes scored two of their own to force even more extra baseball. Finally, in the bottom of the 13th inning Blacksnakes C Dylan Parzyk ended the game with a walk-off single to right center that scored SS Casey Gordon. Parzyk went 2-for-6 on the night with three RBI. St. Joe reliever Caleb Balbuena pitched the final 1.1 innings without allowing a hit to get his first win of the season.

El Paso 5, Coastal Bend 2

El Paso never trailed Saturday night in its 5-2 victory over the Aviators. Leading 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning, Diablos Starting pitcher Greg Wiltshire gave up his only two runs of the night. But his teammates answered right back, scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Wiltshire earned his ninth win of the season with a six-inning performance in which he allowed two runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts. The Diablos were led offensively by 1B Walter Olmstead, who hit his sixth home run of the season to highlight a 2-for-4 night. For the Aviators, RF Matt Spencer went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Sioux City 5, St. Paul 4 (12 innings)

The Saints scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, three coming on a home run by DH Adam Olow, and appeared to be poised to get their 13th win of the season. But Starting Sioux City pitcher Alexander Francisco settled in and allowed only two hits over the next six innings while his teammates came back to tie the score. After nine innings, nothing was settled and the game headed to extra innings. In the top of the 12th, Saints reliever Tony Pierce threw a wild pitch that scored Sioux City CF Jason Tuttle from third. The run proved costly, as Explorers reliever Matt Wilkinson pitched a hitless twelfth, finishing off a 2.1 inning performance that gave him his third win of the season.
