Eight Run Rally Lifts RedHawks over AirHogs 12-7

Fargo, ND - Ryan Delgado hit a three-run home run to cap off an eight-run eighth to give the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks a 12-7 victory over the Grand Prairie AirHogs on July 13, 2012 at Newman Outdoor Field.

The RedHawks began the eighth down 4-6 before batting through the order. Delgado went 2-for-2 in the inning leading it off with a double. Delgado scored on a Todd Jennings single to cut the deficit to 5-6. After a Carlo Cota sacrifice bunt, a Buddy Sosnoskie fielder's choice scored Marcos Rodriguez, and Jennings reached home after a Grand Prairie error which gave Fargo-Moorhead their first lead in the game at 7-6. Eric Campbell followed with an RBI single before Delgado came up and hit a first pitch three-run home run.

The AirHogs had an early lead in the second after a two-run home run by Greg Porter and a solo home run by Kenny Held made it 3-0. Their next biggest lead came in the seventh after Kenny Held hit a triple that scored Chris McMurray and a wild pitch brought in Held and gave Grand Prairie a 6-4 lead.

Jake Laber picked up a no decision for the RedHawks, pitching 6 1/3 innings and giving up six earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Reliever Tony Davis (2-0) pitched two innings giving up an earned run on two hits in the victory.

Grand Prairie reliever Ronnie Morales (3-2) picked up the loss, pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up six runs (one earned) on three hits with two strikeouts. Starter Will Irvin pitched the first 4 1/3 innings giving up four earned runs on six hits and four walks with two strikeouts.

All nine batters for Fargo-Moorhead (31-21) got a hit in the ballgame. Ryan Delgado was 3-for-5 with a home run, double, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Buddy Sosnoskie batted 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, one of which was the eventual game-winning run in the eighth. Jon Gaston hit his sixth home run in the fifth which tied the game, 4-4, at the time.

Kenny Held was 3-for-5 with a home run and two triples, Andres Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a run, Chris McMurray was 2-for-4 with two runs, and David Thomas had two RBIs for Grand Prairie (37-16).

Fargo-Moorhead is now 15-13 at home and is currently on a 10-game winning streak. The RedHawks and AirHogs continue their four-game series tomorrow night at Newman Outdoor Field at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available at fmredhawks.com or by telephone at (701) 235-6161.
