Worcester 2, Gary SouthShore 1
The Worcester Tornadoes plated both of their runs in the sixth inning and held off a late Gary SouthShore rally to win, 2-1. Both starting pitchers, Morgan Coombs of the RailCats and Kevin Cooper of the Tornadoes each had good efforts. Coombs, who took the loss, allowed two earned runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched. Cooper collected his third victory of the season as he gave up four hits and four walks while striking out five batters. Worcester 2B Brandon Pinckney had two hits and scored a run while C Chris Torres drove in a run in a 1-for-4 night.
Sioux Falls 5, Sioux City 1
Sioux Falls got a solid performance from starting pitcher Alan DeRatt as the Pheasants defeated the Sioux City Explorers, 5-1. DeRatt went seven innings allowing only one earned run on two hits and struck out three batters. With the win, DeRatt evened his mark at 3-3 on the season. Sioux Falls RF Cristian Guerrero and C Al Quintana each had three hits on the night with Guerrero scoring two runs and Quintana driving in one. Pheasants 3B Cesar Nicolas chipped in with two hits and two RBI.
Winnipeg 5, St. Paul 4
1B Josh Mazzola sends Winnipeg to its fifth straight win as he leads off the bottom of the ninth inning with a solo home run and gives the Goldeyes a dramatic 5-4 walkoff win over the St. Paul Saints. Winnipeg scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. St. Paul would chip away at that lead and would tie it at 4-4 in the ninth on a wild pitch from Goldeyes reliever Dexter Carter. However, Winnipeg would come right back in the bottom of the frame to win it on Mazzola's blast. Mazzola on the night went 2-for-3 and in drove four runs. Carter, despite giving up the tying run, gets the win.
Fargo-Moorhead 15, Grand Prairie 9
Fargo-Moorhead stays red hot as the RedHawks collect their ninth straight win with a 15-9 decision over the Grand Prairie AirHogs. This was a wild affair as both teams combined for 24 runs on 31 hits, including three home runs by Fargo-Moorhead. RedHawks CF Nic Jackson hit two of those home runs going 2-for-3 and driving in four runs while DH Ryan Delgado collected four hits and scored two runs. LF Jon Gaston chipped in with two hits and four RBI. Fargo-Moorhead reliever Mike Zenko was the winning pitcher as went 3 1/3 innings giving up an earned run on two hits. In the loss for Grand Prairie, RF Trent Lockwood had a 2-for-3 night with a home run and three runs scored.
El Paso 6, Lincoln 2
The El Paso Diablos scored four runs over the last three innings to get past the Lincoln Saltdogs by a 6-2 score. El Paso 1B Jonathan Cisneros led the offense going 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Diablos 2B Daniel Nelson had a 2-for-4 night with a home run, his second of the season. El Paso starting pitcher Reymond Cruz tossed a solid game en route to his fourth win of the season. Cruz allowed two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in six innings pitched.
Laredo 4, Amarillo 3 The Laredo Lemurs held off a late rally by the Amarillo Sox to win, 4-3. Laredo starting pitcher Ryan Sasaki had a solid performance as he went five innings allowing one walk and six hits while striking out seven batters. With the win, Sasaki is 1-1 on the season. Lemurs LF John Allen went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI while SS Uriak Marquez hit his first home run of the season and drove in two runs. The Lemurs had a 4-0 lead after three innings. The Sox cut the lead to 4-3 after scoring two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. However, that is as close as they would get as Amarillo left the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the ninth inning to end the game.
Kansas City 6, Wichita 3 (12 Innings)
Kansas City scored three runs in the top of the 12th inning to beat the Wichita Wingnuts, 6-3. LF Brandon Jones led the T-Bones offense going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI. SS Devin Goodwin and RF Ray Sadler each chipped in with two hits apiece for Kansas City. T-Bones reliever Steve Kent was the winning pitcher after tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings and fanning three batters. For Wichita in defeat, 2B Jairo Perez went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored.
