Diablos Win In Extras, Extend Winning Streak To Four

July 13, 2012 - American Association (AA)
El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- Diablos pitching limited the Lincoln Saltdogs to just five hits over 12 innings and beat Lincoln 3-2 on an RBI double by J.J. Muse in the top of the 12th to win their fourth straight game.

El Paso trailed 2-1 virtually the entire game before Scott Clement's solo home run in the seventh knotted the game.

The Diablos bullpen turned in one of its best performances of the year after starter David Casillas went five innings allowing two runs on just two hits. The 'pen would surrender just three hits over the next seven innings, including none in the eighth through 11th frames.

El Paso had a chance to win before heading into extras when Welington Dotel reached third with only one out in the ninth, but was thrown out at home plate trying to tag on a fly ball to right field.

The two teams would trade zeroes until Muse's double off Ronny Morla (0-2) put El Paso in front to stay.

The Diablos ended the game in spectacular fashion in the 12th. The Saltdogs put runners on first and second against Kyle Cremers (2-3) with only one out when Mike Provencher hit a screaming line drive to right field. Dotel made a running catch and then fired into second base to double off Salomon Manriquez and give El Paso the victory.

The Diablos are 20-31 and have won 13 of their last 17 games heading into game three on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (MST).
