Eight Americans' Alumni Compete in CIS Men's Hockey Championships

The Tri-City Americans have eight former alumni competing in the CIS Men's Hockey Championships beginning on Thursday, March 12, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The top seeded Alberta Golden Bears features four former Americans, including last year's captain Mitch Topping, former captains Kruise Reddick and Jarrett Toll, as well as former assistant captain Johnny Lazo. The Calgary Dinos is the team for former Americans' Drydn Dow and Phil Tot. The Acadia Axemen have former American Joel Ridgeway and the host team, St. Francis Xavier X-Men, features former Americans' goalie Drew Owsley.

"We are very proud of our former players who have gone on to post-secondary education in Canada while using their WHL Scholarships," Tory stated. "To have eight former players in the National Championships speaks to their commitment, both academically and in hockey. All the best."

The tournament begins on Thursday and concludes on Sunday, March 15, with the finals at 6:30 p.m. All tournament games will be webcast at www.CIS-SIC.tv, with the semifinals and finals being pay-per-view.

The Americans are back in action at Toyota Center this Friday, March 13, against the Prince George Cougars. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the Toyota Center box office, any Fred Meyer outlet or online at Ticketmaster.com.
