Edmonton Oilers Recall Defenseman Ladislav Smid

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Ladislav Smid has been recalled by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Edmonton Oilers. Smid will join the Oilers in Edmonton for their game on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild.

In eight games with the Falcons this season, Smid has collected one goal and four assists for five points and a +3 rating. He was the game's first star on October 20 at Albany when he scored his first goal of the year and added two assists in a 5-2 Falcons' win. The third-year pro currently leads all Springfield defensemen in scoring.

The Falcons return to action on Friday, October 26 when they head to Hartford to take on the Wolf Pack, followed by a Saturday night contest at Philadelphia against the Phantoms. Springfield remains in first-place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 5-2-0-1 through eight games.
