Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-3 Wednesday evening at the Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut. The P-Bruins got goals from Petteri Nokelainen, T.J. Trevelyan, Brandon Bochenski and Steve MacIntyre in the victory. The 5-1 Bruins travel to Massachusetts to take on the Lowell Devils Saturday, October 27 at 2:05 p.m.
The first period was a busy one for both Hartford and Providence as the teams combined for five goals. The Wolf Pack got the scoring start just 3:27 into the action while short-handed. Rookie Brodie Dupont and assistant captain Greg Moore took a two-on-one advantage in on P-Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask and Dupont was able to find the back of the net for the first point and goal of his young pro career. Moore got the lone assist as Hartford took a 1-0 lead. Providence evened the game at one only 99 seconds later when enforcer Steve MacIntyre stood tall in front of the net and deflected in his first goal of the year, and first American Hockey League goal since 2004-05 when he was playing for Hartford. The assists at the 5:06 mark went to second-year forwards Trevelyan and Wacey Rabbit. About 10 minutes later, the Wolf Pack strung together a pair of goals within two minutes, scored by Pierre Parenteau and Dane Byers to give Hartf ord a 3-1 lead. Providence cut the deficit to 3-2 on Trevelyan's third goal of the year at the 18:18 mark, helped along by veteran Nate DiCasmirro and first-year defenseman Adam McQuaid.
The P-Bruins tied the game at three, midway through the second period on Bochenski's first goal of the year. Bochenski, playing in the first of a two-game conditioning stint from the Boston Bruins, lit the lamp at the 11:24 mark with the assists going to blue-liners Sean Curry and Matt Hunwick.
Providence came out of the second intermission with a fury, out-shooting Hartford 11-3 and relying on its hottest player for the game-winning goal with just over five minutes left in regulation. Defenseman Brett Skinner found Pascal Pelletier, who dished the puck to Nokelainen for a power play goal and his third score of the year. Nokelainen has recorded points in all five games he has played in this season.
In net, the P-Bruins' Rask earned the win for the fourth time in five tries this year, blocking 14 shots, while the Wolf Pack's Chris Holt took the loss in his first appearance, a 26-save performance. Providence out-shot Hartford 30-17.
The P-Bruins scored once on the power play, the winning goal, in five chances while the Wolf Pack was held scoreless in two man-advantage attempts.
