St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (June 13, 2007) - Joe Mauer, Paul Molitor and Dave Winfield are just some of the prominent names that played high school baseball in the Twin Cities Metro Area and went on to great careers in the Major Leagues. The wave of the future will show off their skills in the Third Annual East vs. West High School All-Star Game at Midway Stadium.

On Friday, June 29 a showdown between the best senior baseball players from the east and west metro area high schools, divided by the Mississippi, will take place as these athletes prepare to embark on college or professional careers.

The game begins at 7:05 p.m. and tickets are $5 per person in advance and $6 at the door or online at saintsbaseball.com. The game will be broadcast live on KSTC.TV, Channel 45.

The Saints have partnered with the area school districts for three seasons, so that scouts and coaches can witness the talents of these student athletes.

Each team's roster will be chosen by the Star Tribune sports department and the MVP from each team, which is chosen by the media, will receive a $1,000 scholarship. A pair of $500 donations will also be made to the Minnesota State High Scoll Baseball Coaches Association in the names of each of the two selected head coaches. Each participating player and coach will receive commemorative All-Star jerseys and a gift pack from the Saints.
