SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes and Austin FC played to a 3-3 last Saturday at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas after falling 1-0 to Inter Miami CF last Wednesday at PayPal Park.

The Earthquakes are now preparing for their next road match against FC Dallas on Saturday, Aug. 13. The match will kick off from Toyota Stadium at 6 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California Plus, KNBR 1050 (English), and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

San Jose announced made three roster announcements over the past week. The Quakes acquired Spanish fullback Carlos Akapo and Brazilian center back Rodrigues before transferring defender Marcos Lopez to Feyenoord of the Dutch Eredivisie for an undisclosed club-record fee.

Go On Jebo

Forward Jeremy Ebobisse scored his 13th goal of the season. He also tallied an assist on Kikanović's goal, marking his second assist of the season.

Assist Leader

Midfielder Cristian Espinoza tallied his ninth assist of the season. He has now assisted four of Ebobisse's 13 goals this season and is one assist away from tying Chris Wondolowski for fourth-most in assists in club history (40).

Defense Turns to Offense

Defender Paul Marie tallied his first goal and first assist of the season.

Vamos Benji

Forward Benji Kikanović scored his fourth goal of the season and eighth goal of his MLS career. He has now tied his single-season career-high in goals (2021).

MLS Start

Goalkeeper Matt Bersano made his first MLS start, playing 90 minutes and making three saves.

MLS Debut

Goalkeeper Matt Bersano made his MLS debut coming on as a substitute for JT Marcinkowski at halftime.

Believing in the Youth

Seventeen-year-old Homegrown midfielder Niko Tsakiris made his first MLS appearance since April 2, while rookie defender Oskar Ågren made his second career start.

NEXT GAME VS. FC DALLAS (8/13)

Against FC Dallas

The Earthquakes carry a 29-20-19 overall record in 68 MLS matchups against FC Dallas, including a 12-12-9 record on the road.

Last Visit

San Jose and Dallas played to a 1-1 draw in their last match at Toyota Stadium on Sept. 11, 2021. Oswaldo Alanis got the Quakes' goal via penalty while Ricardo Pepi scored for the home side.

Earning Points

The Quakes are undefeated in their last five visits to Dallas (2-0-3) and have only lost one game in their 12 matches (4-1-7) against the Texas side dating back to 2016.

Battle of the Forwards

San Jose's Jeremy Ebobisse and Dallas' Jesus Ferreira, two of the league's top scorers will face each other in a Texas showdown on Saturday. Ebobisse currently has a career-high 13 goals, with Ferreira one goal behind with 12 goals.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

Earthquakes Transfer Defender Marcos Lopez to Feyenoord

The San Jose Earthquakes announced on Monday that the club has transferred defender Marcos Lopez to Feyenoord of the Dutch Eredivisie for an undisclosed club-record fee. Lopez, 22, joined San Jose ahead of the 2019 season at 19 years of age. He has since made 69 appearances, including 58 starts, and tallied four goals and six assists. In 2022, Lopez made 16 starts in 17 total appearances and scored one goal.

Earthquakes Acquire Brazilian Defender Rodrigues on Loan from Grêmio

The Earthquakes announced last Saturday that the club has acquired center back Rodrigues on a 12-month loan with option to buy or extend through the end of 2023 from Brazilian side Grêmio. Rodrigues will occupy an international spot on the Quakes' roster, pending receipt of his P1 Visa and ITC.

Earthquakes Sign Defender Carlos Akapo

The San Jose Earthquakes announced last Friday that the club has signed fullback Carlos Akapo to a contract through the 2023 season with a club option for 2024. Akapo, who was a free agent, will occupy an international spot on the Quakes' roster, pending receipt of his P1 Visa and ITC.

EARTHQUAKES II UPDATE

Earthquakes II fell to first-place Tacoma Defiance 2-0 on Friday at PayPal Park. Quakes II currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference, just three points below the playoff line.

Quakes II will now prepare to play St Louis CITY2 in their last of three straight home games on Sunday, Aug. 21. Kickoff from PayPal Park is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and the match will be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com .

ACADEMY UPDATE

The San Jose Earthquakes Academy kick off the 2022-23 MLS NEXT season in late August, with the Boys' U13s, U14s, U15s, and U17s beginning training this week.
