San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes today launched a local photography-focused program in collaboration with Adobe titled Artist in Residence. The Quakes are excited to announce that San Jose native Mallie Sovan-Soeung, known as '35mmallie', has been selected as the winner of the program's inaugural year, which is set to run through the remainder of the 2022 MLS season.
The Quakes and Adobe's Artist in Residence initiative gives the opportunity for one local artist to participate in a set of photography content productions with the San Jose Earthquakes and includes access to a 12-month Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. 35mmallie will partner with the Earthquakes content team with of various projects including:
Merchandise photoshoots with Earthquakes players and talent
Lifestyle photo sessions with Quakes players and talent
Capturing content at Quakes home matches at PayPal Park
Behind-the-scenes look at players' lifestyles in San Jose
Known for her raw aesthetic, old-school film photography, and inspired portraiture, 35mmallie's work is distinct and authentic. As a self-described 'tumblr kid', she has always been drawn to the lifestyle and aesthetic of image making. Since getting her first camera at age 12, it never leaves her side. Inspired by previous life experiences, she looks to capture fleeting moments and convert them into still images full of life. Since buying her first 'liberating' roll of physical film in 2016, 35mmallie has been endlessly inspired by the raw, imperfect look.
"I'm super excited to be a part of this residency with Adobe and the San Jose Earthquakes. San Jose is my home and I've been repping San Jose forever," said 35mmallie. "I am San Jose, so wherever I go my work follows. I'm so grateful for this opportunity. This is something I've always dreamed of. Now my dreams are turning into goals within reach."
35mmallie most recently graduated from San Jose State University in 2021 and currently works full-time at a local events production company. To follow her artwork, visit https://35mmallie.com.
The Earthquakes and Adobe are coming together to celebrate the rich diversity and creativity of fans. Using Adobe's creative tools, both organizations will team up on fan-engaging community activations. As part of the partnership, Adobe branding will be featured during match days at PayPal Park. This program is part of a larger partnership with Adobe that encompasses a fan-driven jersey design challenge, artist commissioned mural celebrating Pride, and exclusive title night presentation of the Earthquakes Pride Night.
