Earthquakes Forward Chris Wondolowski Named MLS Player of the Month

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski has been named Major League Soccer's Player of the Month for May after scoring six goals, including two game-winning goals, in just 203 minutes. It marked his seventh MLS Player of the Month selection, most by any player in league history.

Wondolowski scored a career-high four goals against the Chicago Fire on May 18, his first start of the month, to break Landon Donovan's all-time MLS scoring record. He then tallied a brace the following match against Toronto FC, giving him multiple goals in back-to-back matches for the first time in his career.

Wondolowski, 36, earned his first MLS Player of the Month selection since Oct. 2012 after equaling his career high in goals for a single calendar month. He was also one of just two players in MLS, and the only in the Western Conference, with multiple game-winning goals that month.
