San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes (6-11-9; 27 pts.) will face Sporting Kansas City (7-15-5; 26 pts.) at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan. tonight at 5:30 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Bay Area, KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).
The Earthquakes are coming off their most impressive victory of the season, defeating first-place Los Angeles Football Club 2-1 last Saturday at PayPal Park and snapping the SoCal side's seven-game winning streak. San Jose got goals from 22-year-old Benji Kikanović and 18-year-old Cade Cowell, as well as two assists apiece from both Cristian Espinoza and MLS Team of the Week honoree Tommy Thompson.
Despite sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference, Sporting Kansas City are in strong form heading into the weekend. The club is 2-1-0 in their last three matches and have scored 11 total goals in those contests. Sporting have been particularly strong early in games, becoming the first MLS team to ever score three unanswered goals in the first half of three consecutive games.
