San Jose Earthquakes News Release

CARSON, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes closed a stretch of three road games in eight days with a 3-0 loss against the LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center on Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd of 27,000.

San Jose had its chances early, but it was the Galaxy who found the scoreboard first. Robbie Keane chipped a pass over the Earthquakes' backline, springing Landon Donovan on the run. Donovan carried the ball into the box and beat goalkeeper Jon Busch one-on-one to give the Galaxy a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.

Keane tacked on the next two Galaxy goals, the first of which came from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute. The Irishman capped the scoring midway through the second half, volleying home a header from Sean Franklin for his 12th goal of the season.

The Earthquakes return to action on Sunday, Sept. 8 against the Philadelphia Union at Buck Shaw Stadium for Steven Lenhart Chia Pet Night, presented by Cosmopolitan Catering. Kickoff is 8 p.m. PT on ESPN2, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF.
