Early Lead Holds Up, Vipers Beat Warriors 8-5

Scoring five times in the first inning the Calgary Vipers (26-20) defeated the Strong Warriors of Maui (18-23) 8-5 at Iron Maehara Stadium in Maui, Hawaii. Led by a first inning grand slam from Louie Templeton Calgary took the early lead and in the seventh they used a Justin Tellam three-run double for some much needed insurance. Mike Burns was brilliant out of the bullpen for the Snakes retiring all nine batters he faced while Garret Holleran (3-5) took the win after striking out six batters in his five innings. Claudio Galva (13) recorded the save by collecting the final two outs of the game while Corey Hales (2-2) took the loss after allowing five runs in five frames. With the victory the Vipers move to two games back in third place in the North Division.

The Vipers return home to Calgary and Foothills Stadium on Tuesday July 12th at 6:30 to take on the Edmonton Capitals.

The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
