Colorado Eagles News Release

WEEK IN REVIEW

Tuesday, February 17 Eagles 8 at Tulsa Oilers 1

The Eagles won their fourth straight game as eight different people scored. Colorado's special teams were on fire, scoring three short-handed and two power play goals. The five goal second period was only the second time the Eagles have scored five goals in one period. Goaltender Ryan Bach got his second assist of the year on a short-handed goal by Igor Bondarevs, he also saved 29-30 shots.

Friday, February 20 Eagles 3 at Memphis RiverKings 6

The RiverKings beat the Eagles for the third time and final time in the regular season. Colorado only beat the RiverKings once and were outscored 17-12 in the four regular season games. The Eagles controlled the pace of play, but Memphis capitalized on the few scoring chances they had. The special teams continued to go well for the Eagles as they scored two power play goals. Jean-Francois Racine was magnificent in the net saving 30 of 33 Eagles' shots.

Saturday, February 21 Eagles 4 at Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 3

Greg Pankewicz netted two goals as the Eagles beat the Northern Conference leading Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, 4-3 in front of 10,181 fans at the CenturyTel Center. The crowd was the largest to ever witness an Eagles' game. Again, the power play was key in the Eagles' victory as they scored three times on the power play. Mudbugs' Chris Brassard tied the game up at three 4:34 into the third period, but Pankewicz received a pass from Brent Thompson and tallied his league-leading tenth game-winning goal for the victory.

WEEK AHEAD

Thursday, February 26 Eagles at New Mexico Scorpions 7:05 p.m. MST

The Eagles take on their division rival for the first of two games this week. They are 6-1-1 against the Scorpions. This will be the fourth game in New Mexico, and the Eagles are outscoring New Mexico 12-6 at the Tingley Coliseum. The Eagles have won the last three meetings and outscored the Scorpions by eight goals in those meetings.

Friday, February 27 Eagles vs. Wichita Thunder 7:05 p.m. MST

The Thunder are only four points away from a playoff spot, so the Eagles need to be ready. This is the first of a six-game home stand that will end the regular season home games for the Eagles. Colorado has won three of the five games against Wichita, but lost the game to the Thunder, 4-3. Tye Korbl scored a short-handed goal with just over six minutes left for the victory. Wichita's center Travis Clayton leads all scorers in the series with eight points (3-5).

Sunday, February 29 Eagles vs. New Mexico Scorpions 6:05 p.m. MST

Colorado faces the Scorpions for the second time in four nights. In eight games, Colorado has outscored the Scorpions 38-20, and out shot New Mexico 299-189. Goaltender Ryan Bach leads all goaltenders in the series with a 2.13 goals-against-average. EAGLES TEAM LEADERS

SUBWAY'S JARED TO ATTEND EAGLES GAME

The Eagles announced on Friday that Jared Fogle, the man that made the "Subway diet" famous, will be attending the Friday, February 27 game against the Wichita Thunder. Subway has contributed more than 30,000 subs as a result of the "Subway Six-Goal Shootout" promotion with the Eagles. Jared will be holding a press conference and signing autographs before the game. He is also the Official Puck-dropper for the game.

EAGLES CALLED UP

Three Eagles players have been called up to play for the American Hockey League. Defensemen Jesse Cook and Scott Swanson, and left winger Ryan Tobler were all called up to the Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Penguins of the AHL. In three games, Cook is the only one to record a point for the Penguins with an assist against the Philadelphia Phantoms on February 18.

MAGIC NUMBER (7)

Colorado's magic number has fallen to 7. This means that the Eagles need only four wins in their last ten games to clinch the Northwest Division title, but the number goes down if the Thunder lose.
