
Guerrera Selected CHL Goalie Of The Week

LAREDO, Texas â Laredo Bucks goalie David Guerrera has been selected the CHL Goalie of the Week for his performance this past weekend. He is the first Bucks goalie this year to capture the weekly honor. The Bucks are home tomorrow night against the Corpus Christi Rayz to celebrate Mardi Gras. Guerrera led the Bucks, who have the best record in the CHL at 42-6-5, to a two game sweep over the weekend. He stopped 75 of 76 total shots. He turned aside all 33 shots to blank Corpus Christi 6-0 on Friday and 42 of 43 shots to beat Austin 2-1 on Saturday.
"David is very deserving of this honor," said Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski. "He has been a great addition to our hockey team this year."
Guerrera currently leads the CHL with a 1.94 Goals Allowed Average and a Save Percentage of .936.
"The week went well for us," said Guerrera. "The team played well and allowed me to see the shots from the point. It was a good weekend for the team as we were able to grab four more points."
The rookie goalie from Wayne State is tied for fourth in the CHL with 24 wins. He has four shutouts which is tied for third in the league.
Bucks players Chris Grenville, Jeff Bes and Serge Dube have been selected as CHL Players of the Week this year. Bes, Brent Cullaton and Patrik Nilson have been honored as CHL Players of the Month.
BUCKS NOTABLES
The Bucks need just two more points to ensure home ice advantage throughout the Southern Conference playoffs. Laredo needs 10 more points to ensure home ice advantage thru the entire CHL playoffs. The Bucks have currently clinched a playoff berth with the Southeast Division title and home ice advantage thru the first round of the playoffs.
SPECIAL EVENTS
The Bucks will wear special Mardi Gars jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game tomorrow. During the game there will be a Mardi Gras parade on the ice at an intermission. Mardi Gras beads, sponsored by Whataburger, will be tossed into the crowd during the parade.
Tomorrow fans are encouraged to dress up in Mardi Gras attire. The Cheers Cocktails Outrageous Fan of the Game will be the person showing the most Mardi Gras spirit. As always creativity and originality will be rewarded and the Outrageous Fan of the Game will win two tickets to a future Bucks game.
Selected Bucks players will be present in the MVP lounge after the game tomorrow night.
Tomorrow's game will be broadcast entirely in Spanish on AM 1490 KLNT.
Tomorrow is another Laredo Morning Times Family Night. For $40 you get four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four bags of chips.
Friday night is 80's retro night at the LEC. Fans are encouraged to wear their 80's clothes. There will be 80's themed music. There will also be an after party at Graham Central station, everyone with a Bucks ticket stub and dressed in 80's gear will get in with no cover charge. With just a Bucks ticket stub you get a dollar off the cover at Graham's.
