Entries must be received by November 5, 2008.

Wednesday, October 22; Eagles Spoil Rocky Mountain's Home Opener, 5-1

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Rocky Mountain Rage, 5-1 tonight, riding a strong opening period and Andrew Penner's solid goaltending the rest of the way. Penner - making his second start in net for the Eagles - stopped 39 of 40 shots as the game's No. 1 Star, and Colorado's penalty killers stopped the final six of seven Rage power plays to accent the defensive effort.

Friday, October 24; Panks' Hat Trick Leads Eagles to Best Start Ever

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Arizona Sundogs, 7-5, behind the strength of a Greg Pankewicz hat trick and a five-point night by Riley Nelson (the second of his Colorado career). It was the first meeting between the two clubs since last season's President's Cup Finals. Morgan Cey got his second start in net for the Eagles, letting in just one goal at even strength.

Saturday, October 25; Special Teams Propel Eagles to 5-0 Start

AMARILLO, Texas - The Colorado Eagles improved to 5-0 on the season with a 6-2 victory over the Amarillo Gorillas tonight. In a game that saw a total of 30 power plays, it was the Eagles' special teams that made the difference, going 5-14 on the power play and 15-16 on the penalty kill. Andrew Penner got his third start in net as part of Colorado's goaltending rotation, stopping 34 of 36 shots, and Ed McGrane led the team offensively with three points (1-2-3) a night after his 14-game point streak was snapped.

Sunday, October 26; Eagles Stay Perfect With Hard-Fought Win, Now 6-0

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Colorado Eagles continued their record-setting start to the 2008-09 season, improving to 6-0 after a 2-1 shootout victory over the Oklahoma City Blazers tonight. On the eve of his 27th birthday, Eagles goaltender Morgan Cey had his best performance of the season, stopping 41 of 42 shots, and shutting out all four of the Blazers' he faced in the shootout. Eagles captain Greg Pankewicz got the game-winning goal for the Eagles' third shootout victory in just six games.

The Week Ahead

Thursday, October 30; Battle of the Unbeatens; Offense vs. Defense

Colorado will look to remain perfect on the season when they take on one of the only other two undefeated teams in the league, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The defensive-minded 'Bugs are 4-0 and have allowed just 6 goals - the fewest in the CHL. The Eagles, on the other hand, have scored 32 goals - the most in the league.

Friday, October 31 & Saturday, November 1; Mac Returns to Mississippi

New Head Coach Kevin McClelland makes his return to the DeSoto Civic Center, where he posted a regular season record of 59-31-6 the past three seasons as the bench boss. Last season, the Eagles lost a 5-4 shootout - in a game that also saw a bench-clearing brawl and goaltender fight - in their only tip to Mississippi.

Notable Numbers

SHOOTOUT SPECIALISTS - Colorado remained undefeated with their third shootout win in just six games on Sunday evening. They've already surpassed their shootout win total from last season when they were just 2-5. A big reason for their success this season is the play of goaltenders Andrew Penner and Morgan Cey, who have combined to stop 14-15 shooters.

SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE - Thursday night's match-up between the Eagles and Mudbugs will pit two of the league's three undefeated teams against each other. At 6-0, Colorado is off to the best start in franchise history. A seventh straight victory would tie the team's third-longest winning streak ever.

RETURN OF THE KING - The Eagles will head to Mississippi (once known as Memphis) for a pair of games Friday and Saturday, marking Head Coach Kevin McClelland's return to the place he called home the past three seasons. His regular season record at the DeSoto Civic Center during that time was 59-31-6.

WHAT A WEEK - Veteran forward Riley Nelson had himself quite a week, registering 10 points (1-9-10) in four games to overtake fellow teammate Ryan Tobler in the CHL scoring race. Nelson's stats were bolstered by a 5-point night (1-4-5) against the defending champion Sundogs, tying him for the second-most points in a single game in franchise history.

BLUE LINE, RED LIGHT - Colorado has the top three scoring defensemen in the CHL, led by All-Star Aaron Schneekloth, the transplanted Scott Polaski and the hard-hitting Erik Adams - all with 8 points each. Adams is tied for first among the league's defensemen with 3 goals, while Schneekloth and Polaski are tied for first in assists with 7.
