Oilers Home Twice

October 27, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

Twice Is Nice: The Tulsa Oilers, who lead the Central Hockey League in attendance, play two more home games this weekend at the BOK Center. They host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Friday and the Wichita Thunder Saturday. Both games start at 7:35 p.m.

Tough Third: The Oilers dropped their only game of the week last week, giving up four third period goals in a 5-1 loss to the Oklahoma City Blazers on Saturday.

Big Crowd: Saturday's game, the first at the BOK Center drew a crowd of 16,982, the largest in Tulsa hockey history and the second largest in CHL history.

First Goal: The first goal in the BOK Center was scored by Oklahoma City's Bill Vandermeer on a power play at 2:44 of the second period. The Oilers first goal came from Chris Kovalcik also on a power play that tied the game at 12:08 of the second period.

Good Point: Center Brendon Hodge assisted on the Oilers' goal Saturday night. That stretches his point scoring streak to three games. He leads the Oilers in scoring with five points on two goals and three assists.

Powerful: Kovalcik's goal was the Oilers fifth power play goal this season, in their three games. Ironically, the Oilers only non power play goal this year came shorthanded. They have yet to score at even strength.

Listen Up: For the first time in several seasons, the Oilers are broadcasting home games via the internet. Fans can log on to www.tulsaoilers.com to listen to Saturday's game.
