Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Oct. 22 vs. Colorado Eagles, 5-1 Loss - After taking an early 1-0 lead, the Rage yielded four straight first period tallies to their rivals on their way to falling in a home opener for the first time in their three-year history.
Oct. 24 vs. Wichita Thunder, 6-3 Loss - Rocky Mountain took a lead to the locker room for the first time this season after Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn and John Snowden gave the club a 2-1 edge through 20 minutes. But the Rage could not sustain their energy in the second period when they were outscored, 3-0, and eventually fell, 6-3, to begin the campaign with a 0-4-0 mark.
Oct. 25 vs. Arizona Sundogs, 4-1 Win - The Rage turned in a complete 60-minute performance and were rewarded with their first win of the season against the defending President's Cup Champions. Daymen Rycroft led the way with a Gordie Howe hat trick, recording two goals, one assist, and one fight, which helped set the tone early in the first. Marty Magers picked up the victory in net by making 25 saves.

SECOND PERIOD WOES PUT TO AN END
Heading into Saturday's game, the Rage had been outscored, 13-0, in the second period during the first four games of the year. But against the Sundogs, it was Rocky Mountain that skated to a decisive 3-1 edge in the middle frame, setting the stage for its first victory of the season.
GIVING THE GREEN LIGHT TO TEAMMATES
Colt King has yet to turn on the red light himself, but he's certainly helping his teammates get in position to score. King leads the team with six points, all by way of assists. The fifth-year pro has helpers in four of the team's five games this year, including two apiece this past Friday and Saturday.
PK SHUTS DOWN DOGS
The night before the Sundogs ventured into Broomfield Event Center, they scored four power play goals in a 7-5 loss to the Colorado Eagles. Rocky Mountain's penalty killing units showed they were up to the challenge, short-circuiting all 10 of Arizona's power plays during Saturday's 4-1 win. The game marked the first time this year that the Rage have not given up a power play goal.
MAGERS' MULLIGAN
Marty Magers' first start in net for the Rage did not go as planned during last Wednesday's loss to the Eagles. Not only did the team lose, 5-1, but Magers was ejected from the game early in the third period when he racked up a league single-game season-high 32 penalty minutes for slashing Colorado's Greg Pankewicz and fighting his goaltending counterpart Andrew Penner at center ice. After serving a one-game league suspension for his actions on Friday, Magers returned between the pipes on Saturday for his second start and made amends by stopping 25 pucks to secure his first victory in a Rage sweater.
