Oakley CHL Player/Goaltender of the Week Announced

The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending October 26th, 2008 are forward Chris Lipsett of the Rapid City Rush and goaltender Andy Franck of the Oklahoma City Blazers.

Lipsett scored five goals with two assists in a week that saw the Rush earn points in all three games they played (1-0-2). The Ottawa, Ontario native paces the CHL with seven goals and ranks among the league leaders with 11 points (tied for third) and a +5 plus/minus rating (tied for sixth). the 6-1, 195-pound player/assistant coach for the Rush has notched a point in each of the expansion team's first five games and has helped the team to points in each contest thus far (1-0-4). Rapid City is nearly half-way through their 14-game season-opening road trip. Their home opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 29th versus Colorado.



Franck has been on his game in each of his six starts thus far and is coming off a week that saw him earn points in each of his four starts (2-0-2). The Reminderville, Ohio native turned away 90 of 95 shots in the Blazers six-point week allowing just five goals. On the season, the 6-0, 195-pound back stop is 4-0-2 with a 1.28 goals against average (second in the CHL) and a .944 save percentage (third in the CHL). Dating back to last season, Franck is 13-0-3 in his last 16 decisions. Last week, the Blazers defeated Wichita and Tulsa by 5-1 scores and lost in shootouts to Mississippi (3-2) and Colorado (2-1).



In recognition of their achievement, both Lipsett and Franck will receive a pair of Oakley sunglasses.
