WEEK IN REVIEW

Wednesday, December 15 Eagles 6 vs. Amarillo Gorillas 2

The Colorado Eagles crushed the Amarillo Gorillas, 6-2 Wednesday Night in front of the 47th consecutive sellout at the Budweiser Events Center. Riley Nelson, Ryan Tobler, Chris Hartsburg and Greg Pankewicz all had multiple point nights as the Eagles climbed closer to first place in the Northwest Division. Tyler Weiman saved 17 of 19 shots on goal for his tenth win of the season.

Friday, December 17 Eagles 5 vs. Tulsa Oilers 0

Ryan Tobler lit the lamp twice and Tyler Weiman shutout his CHL-leadiing fourth team tonight as the Colorado Eagles thumped the Tulsa Oilers 5-0. Weiman saved a season-high 38 shots in the victory and four different Eagles had multiple points. Tobler continued his scoring streak to six games, and Brad Williamson added two assists to keep his four-game scoring streak alive

Saturday, December 18 Eagles 1 @ Wichita Thunder 2

The Wichita Thunder snapped Colorado's four-game winning streak Saturday night with a 2-1 victory. The Northwest Division rivals continue to battle for first place in the division and Wichita (16-7-1, 33 points) holds a three-point advantage over Colorado (13-4-4, 30 points), although the Eagles have three games in hand. Eagles backup goaltender Gian Baldrica played his best game of the season and single-handedly kept Colorado in the game. His 30 saves weren't enough though as the Eagles couldn't capitalize on the few chances they were given. Jamie Vandespyker played very well in net for the Thunder saving 28 of 29 shots.

Tuesday, December 21 Eagles @ Amarillo Gorillas 6:11 p.m. MST Radio-KKPL-99.9 The Point

The Eagles and Gorillas battle in the second of four meetings this season. Colorado crushed the Gorillas 6-2 last Wednesday at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles are now 4-1 all-time against the Gorillas. Their only defeat was on January 3, 2004 in a 3-1 game in Amarillo. The Eagles have outscored the Gorillas 22-8 in the series and have not lost to Amarillo at the Budweiser Events Center. These teams face off three of their four games in December and Colorado will again travel to Amarillo next Wednesday December 29 for the third matchup. The Gorillas are 10-10-2, 22 points and in third place in the Southwest Division.

Wednesday, December 22 Eagles @ New Mexico Scorpions 7:05 p.m. MST Radio-KKPL-99.9 The Point

This is the fifth of eleven games between the Northwest Division rivals. The Eagles are 2-0-2 against the Scorpions this season, and the home team has yet to win a game. The Scorpions won two overtime games in-a-row at Colorado on November 5 and 6, and Colorado beat the Scorpions twice at the Tingley Coliseum on December 10 and 11. The Scorpions (13-8-3, 29 points) are only one point behind Colorado in the Northwest Division, although they have played three more games than the Eagles. Konrad McKay leads all scorers in the series with six points on two goals and four assists.

Streaks

Karlis Zirnis – The Eagles leading rookie scorer from last season is currently on a three-game scoring streak (1-2-3). He notched his first goal of the season on Friday night against the Tulsa Oilers.

Matt Desrosiers – Also riding a three-game streak in which he has five assists.

Penalty Killers- The Eagles continue to pace the league in killing penalties in which they have killed 91% of the penalties. Colorado has killed all but one penalty in their last five games going 26 for 27.

All-Star Bound- Eagles Head Coach Chris Stewart will represent the Northern Conference at the 2005 All-Star Game on January 12, 2005 in Laredo, Texas. As of December 19, the Eagles had the best winning percentage in the Northern Conference ensuring coach his spot at the game. Equipment Manager Tony Deynzer and Athletic Trainer Chris Porowski will join Stewart behind the bench.

250,000th Fan – The Eagles welcomed their quarter-of-a-millionth fan on Friday, December 17 against the Tulsa Oilers. The fan was given a team signed hockey stick and jersey that stated "250,00th Fan." Colorado has sold out all 48 games (including playoffs) at the Budweiser Events Center since the team's inception last season.

GAA- The Eagles are tops in the Central Hockey League in GAA allowing only 2.24 goals per game. Conversely, Colorado is in second place in goals for, scoring 3.57 goals per game. Only the Laredo Bucks average more goals per game at 3.61.
