Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas â The Central Hockey League announced today that Laredo Bucks forward Jeff Bes has been selected as the Oakley CHL Player of the Week. Bes had goals in all three games this past week and has helped the Bucks to a season high seven straight wins. Laredo is home this Sunday night against the Corpus Christi Rayz. Face off is set for 7:30 p.m. For Laredo Bucks season or single game tickets call (956)-718-BUCKS (2825) or log onto www.laredobucks.com and buy tickets online.
"We have been playing really well as a team lately," Bes said. "The defense, the forwards, and the goaltending have all been playing in tune. The way we have been skating has created a lot of chances for everyone."
Bes, the 2003-04 CHL regular season MVP, had four goals and four assists in three Bucks wins last week. Laredo is 13-9-1 and in a first place tie with Corpus Christi in the Southeast division with 27 points.
Tuesday night he scored the game winning goal and added a helper in a 5-2 win over Rio Grande Valley at the LEC.
He totaled five points on two goals and three assists in an 8-2 rout of Rio Grande Valley on Friday again at the LEC. The Bucks set a franchise record and tied a CHL record with seven power play goals in the game. Bes scored the goal of the game when with his skates behind the goal line he took a pass from forward Scott Kelman and then slid the puck into the net from deep in the corner with almost no angle to work with.
Bes also assisted on all three of Adam Paiement's goals on Friday as Paiement registered his first professional hat trick.
Saturday night Bes scored a power play goal on a one-timer, that was setup by Paiement, with less than a minute to go in the second period to help the Bucks blow open the game and post a 5-1 win in Corpus Christi.
Bes leads the Bucks with 15 goals and is second on the team with 27 points in 23 games.
Bes is the second Bucks player to capture an Oakley weekly award this year. Goalie Jeremy Symington was honored last week.
