Windsor, CO - The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) shutout the Oklahoma City Blazers at home tonight, 6-0. The Colorado Eagles sold out another game (5,211 attending), the team has sold out every home game of their inaugural 2003-04 season. The Eagles are now 22-9-2 and have 46 points. The Blazers are now 17-13-4 on the season with 38 points. Eagles left winger Ryan Tobler lead the team with a four point night, two goals and two assists, right winger Phil Crowe scored two goals and had an assist. Left winger Karlis Zirnis and defenseman Brad Williamson each added a goal on the six goal Subway night. Left winger Cam Kuzyk was all over the ice with three assists. Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach recorded his third shutout of the season and his first shutout at home by saving 25 of 25 shots on goal. Blazers netminder Boyd Ballard saved 14 of 18 shots, while his partner, Sean Connors saved 7 of 9.

Three minutes eighteen seconds into the first period, Eagles left winger Karlis Zirnis netted a rebound, his eighth of the season, from forward Cam Kuzyk and defenseman Jesse Cook. Another left winger for Colorado, Ryan Tobler scored the second goal at 16:31 of the first period, he was assisted by defensman Aaron Grosul and forward Cam Kuzyk. The Eagles outshot the Blazers 15-6 in the first period. The period with a 2-0 Eagles lead.

The Eagles added their third goal 5:05 into the second period when right winger Phil Crowe slipped the puck passed Boyd Ballard. Crowe was assisted by forward Cam Kuzyk and center Brad Patterson. They continued their assault two minutes forty one seconds later when Ryan Tobler scored his second goal of the night from defenseman Brad Williamson (7:46) . Boyd Ballard was pulled after the Eagles fourth goal saving 14 of 18 shots, he was replaced by goaltender Sean Connors. Not to be outdone, Phil Crowe scored his second goal of the contest on a power play with 2:40 remaining in the period from left winger Tobler and defenseman Brent Thompson. The period ended with the Eagles scoring on 3 of 6 shots, and a 5-0 Eagles lead.

The only third period goal came from defenseman Brad Williamson on a power play from Tobler and Crowe 13:54 into the period. It ended with a few scrums and a 6-0 Eagles victory. Because the Colorado Eagles scored six goals they earned a free Subway sandwich for every fan in the sold out crowd. This is the fifth time fans have enjoyed a free sandwich from Subway. The last Subway giveaway was the 19th of November against Lubbock when the Eagles beat the Cotton Kings 7-2.

Eagles goaltender Bach had a perfect game saving 25 of 25 shots on goal for his third shutout of the season and first at home. The Eagles out shot the Blazers 27 to 25. The Colorado Eagles are now 22-9-2 on the season with 46 points. The Eagles are first in the Northwest Division and in second place in the league overall.

NEXT FOR THE EAGLES

The team travels to Amarillo tonight for a match up against the Gorillas Saturday, January 3 at 6:10 p.m. (MST). The Eagles will return home for a four game home stand. They will face off against the Lubbock Cotton Kings Wednesday, January 7 at 7:05 p.m. (MST). The Eagles will skate against the Odessa Jackalopes Friday, January 9 at 7:05 p.m. (MST). A rematch against the Jackalopes will be televised from the Budweiser Events Center on UPN 20, Saturday, January 10 at 1:30 p.m. (MST). The last game of the Eagles home stand will be against the Tulsa Oilers Friday, Janunary 16 at 7:05 p.m. (MST).
