SETTING THE STAGE: Tonight's game will be the third of six this season between the Brahmas and the Ice Bats...The teams have split their previous two meetings this year, with each club winning on home ice...The Brahmas 7-5 win over Austin on Sat. Dec. 20 at the FWCC snapped a nine-game losing streak against the Bats...Fort Worth is 17-35-5 all time against Austin.
FORT WORTH NOTES: A win by the Brahmas tonight would be their third victory in a row, matching their longest such streak of the season...Fort Worth defeated Corpus Christi 7-3 this past Tuesday night at home and then won on New Year's Eve in Tulsa by a 4-2 score...Left wing and team captain Chad Woollard had his best game of the year in the Brahmas road win over the Oilers; Woollard scored 2 goals, including the game winner, assisted on another goal, and picked up a fighting major...Woollard now has 13 points (4G/9A) in his last ten games...Second year forward Justin Williams is also playing well, as he has 6 goals in his last 10 games played...Fort Worth goaltender Tyler Nilsson has allowed just four goals against in his last three starts to lower his goals against average to 3.20...Forward Steve Reid, signed by Fort Worth earlier this week, will make his home ice debut tonight for the Brahmas.
AUSTIN NOTES: Since losing to the Brahmas 7-5 on December 20, 2003, the Ice Bats have run off three wins in a row and are currently in second place in the Southeast Division...Austin won their last game, a 4-3 shootout victory over the Lubbock Cotton Kings in Lubbock on New Year's Eve...Rookie forward Brent Hughes led the Ice Bats in that game, scoring two goals, including the shootout game winner, and assisting on another goal...Hughes, from Toronto, Ontario, leads the Ice Bats in goals with 14 and is tied for fourth amongst all CHL rookies in scoring...The remaining two thirds of the fabled "STP" line, Brett Seguin and Gerald Tallaire, are tied for the Bats team lead in points with 30...The acquisition of goaltender Jonathan Forest has paid off in a big way for the Ice Bats; Forest is 10-5-4 with Austin since coming over from Bossier-Shreveport...Austin is a different team away from home; just four of their 14 wins have come away from the Bat Cave.
