Eagles Knock off Thunder 2-1

(Loveland, CO) - The Colorado Eagles beat the Wichita Thunder 2-1 at the Budweiser Events Center Wednesday night. Eric Levine stood tall in goal making 22 saves in his first win as a Colorado Eagle.

Everett Sheen put the Eagles on the board in the first period at the 7:08 mark. Sheen scored his first goal in an Eagles uniform on a backhander from the low slot to give Colorado an early 1-0 lead.

Late in the second period, Eagles captain Trent Daavetilla fired home a shot from on top of the crease on the powerplay to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead with 2:36 to play in the second frame.

Wichita tightened the score, breaking up Levine's shutout in the process. Kenton Miller tipped in a shot cutting Colorado's lead to one at the 7:02 mark of the third period.

The Thunder pulled goaltender Grant Rollheiser to gain the man advantage, but Levine held strong in goal and the Eagles walked away with the 2-1 win.

The Colorado Eagles and Wichita Thunder return to the ice Friday, December 11th at the Budweiser Events Center for the second game of the three-game series.
