Eagles Fall to Grizzlies 2-1

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (8-4-0-0), despite outshooting the Utah Grizzlies (5-5-1-2), 27-18 fell 2-1, at the Budweiser Events Center on Wednesday evening.

At the 4:25 mark of the first period Utah forward Vinny Scarsella fired the puck past Eagles netminder Doug Carr, top-shelf, to give the Grizzlies the early 1-0 advantage.

With 11:47 left in the second frame Eagles defensemen Brett Kulak netted his first goal as an Eagle with a shot from the point to tie the game 1-1.

Grizzlies forward Alex Krushelnyski gave Utah the 2-1 lead on a short-handed breakaway just under seven minutes into the third stanza. Carr was able to stop 16 of the Grizzlies 18 shots-on-net, while Utah goalie Ryan Faragher held off 26 of the Eagles 27 shots to secure the 2-1 victory over the Eagles. The two teams will square off again Saturday night at the Budweiser Events Center.
