Eagles Earn First Victory in Franchise History

Windsor, CO – The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) were victorious in their first pre-season game against division rival, the Oklahoma City Blazers, with a 3-1 win Friday night at the Budweiser Events Center.

Former Chicago Wolves left winger, Ryan Tobler, scored the first goal in Colorado Eagles history 8:09 into the first period, the goal was assisted by former Rochester American, Riley Nelson. In the second period rookie Karlis Zirnis netted a goal assisted by defenseman Scott Swanson, securing a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles didn't let a period go by with out a goal, rookie defenseman Doug Strobl scored 3:48 into the third, assisted by Tobler, establishing a 3-0 lead over the Blazers. Strobl's goal was answered by Oklahoma City's Peter Robertson 4:22 into the third.

Colorado Eagles goalies, Scott Hay and Gian Baldrica, were key in the team's 3-1 victory. They collectively amassed 26 saves in Friday night's game.
