IceGators add veteran winger Masa

Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana IceGators have signed veteran left wing Martin Masa (MAH-suh), head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish announced Saturday. The 30-year-old native of Sokolov, Czech Republic is expected to be in the lineup for tonight's pre-season game at Pensacola.

Masa is entering his 10th pro season. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder has spent most of the last four seasons in ECHL Greenville. Masa was a part of the Grrrowl's 2001-02 Kelly Cup winning team. In 2002-03, Masa totaled 37 points (20g, 17a) and 57 penalty minutes in 69 games. Masa, who is the eldest of the IceGators in camp, began his pro career with CHL Fort Worth in 1994-95. In 573 pro games, Masa has 497 points (211g, 286a) and 879 penalty minutes. A proven post-season performer, Masa has posted 36 points (15g, 21a) and 60 penalty minutes in 34 games, all with Greenville.

Louisiana opens the season at Mississippi on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7:35 p.m., before the Sea Wolves make a return trip for the IceGators' home opener Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7:05 p.m. Individual tickets, starting at just $10 for adults and $9 for kids (ages 2-12 in any level) are now on sale at the Cajundome Box Office and Ticketmaster outlets. Opening Night will feature a Chris Valicevic jersey retirement ceremony. Full season ticket packages, half season plans and Ice Packs are also on sale now and can be purchased by calling (337) 234-4423. Full season packages start at just $288, while children ages 4-12 can have season tickets for only $225 in any level, including rink side, with an adult purchase.
