Colorado Eagles News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- The Colorado Eagles defeated the Youngstown SteelHounds Friday night 3-2 at the Chevrolet Centre. The Eagles' three goals were scored within the first two minutes of each period and they improved their record to 43-15-1 remaining in first place in the Central Hockey League. Marco Emond saved 35 of 37 shots in his 27th win of the season and the Eagles remain undefeated against the SteelHounds all-time. The SteelHounds scored two third period goals to make it a one-goal game, but couldn't score the equalizer. The two teams will meet both Saturday and Sunday at the Chevrolet Centre.

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead only 22 seconds into the first period when Seth Leonard scored his 21st goal of the season on assists from Chris Hartsburg and Riley Nelson. Youngstown outshot Colorado 12-9 in the period but found themselves down 1-0 after one period of play.

The second period started much like the first period, Colorado scored only 25 seconds into the period. Ryan Tobler scored a power play goal on assists from Greg Pankewicz and Sean Robertson. Pankewicz now has points in 12 of his 13 games played this season. The period ended with the score remaining in favor of the Eagles 2-0.

Colorado again scored within the first two minutes of the period, this time it was Sean Robertson on assists from Brent Hughes and Craig Strain. Youngstown quickly answered on a goal by Stephen Margeson less than a minute later. Former Eagles player, Garrett Larson made it a one-goal game with nine minutes to play on his 15th goal of the season. That would be the closest the SteelHounds would get as Marco Emond made a few key saves to preserve the win for Colorado. Final Score: Eagles 3 - SteelHounds 1.
