Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Sturdy goaltending by Ken Carroll and a rock solid penalty kill earned the Mudbugs a 3-1 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Friday night.
Ken Carroll and the Mudbugs defense stood strong in scoreless first period. The Mudbugs stopped Rio Grande Valley on four power play opportunities but couldn't convert on three of their own.
Cam Abbott extended his point streak to ten games when he poked a rebound in at 1:44 in the second period. Karlis Zirnis ripped a one-timer from the right wing on a 3-on-2 to break a personal scoreless streak and put the Bugs up by two. Rio Grande Valley's Rob Voltera put the Bees back within one with his slap shot from the high slot that beat Ken Carroll glove side.
The Mudbugs continued to grind it out on defense in the third period. Cam Abbott added an empty net goal and Bossier-Shreveport increased their win streak to five games. Ken Carroll stopped 29 of 30 shots to pick up his 11th win of the year.
