The Eagles took the lead just 1:32 into the first period. Just over five minutes later, Scott Polaski came in on a shorthanded breakaway and lifted the puck over Sebastien Centomo to take a 2-0 lead, he was assisted by Les Borsheim and Chris Hartsburg. Colorado out shot the Blazers 12-7 in the period and took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Seven penalties were called in the second period, although neither team was able to score on their power play opportunities. The shot chart flip-flopped in the second period with Oklahoma City out shooting Colorado 12-7.
The Eagles took a 3-0 lead on a quick passing play from Erik Adams to Ryan Tobler to Greg Pankewicz who jammed the puck into an open net for a power play goal. The teams went up and down the ice for the remainder of the third period and Pankewicz capped the night with his second goal with 56 seconds remaining in the game. He was assisted by Nelson and Tobler and it marked Pankewicz's 996th point in his professional career.
