Bucks Close Regular Season This Weekend

LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks went 3-1-0 this past week. The Bucks beat Memphis 3-1 on Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Saturday the Bucks posted a 7-4 road win over the Austin Ice Bats. Sunday the Bucks scored four third period goals and beat Corpus Christi 6-2 at the LEC. Tuesday the Bucks fell 4-1 at Rio Grande Valley. Laredo is 41-15-6 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 88 points. The Bucks are in Corpus Christi on Saturday then return home Sunday against the Rayz to close the 2005-06 CHL regular season. UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

- On Sunday the Bucks host the Corpus Christi Rayz to close the 2005-06 CHL regular season. Face off set for 4 p.m. The first 2,000 kids age 12 and under get a Bucks Youth Hockey Jersey courtesy of AT&T and Cingular. Families can take advantage of a four pack of tickets, starting at 48 dollars. Fans can enjoy a post-game skate on Sunday with the Bucks players.

2005-06: Laredo is 8-2-1 against the Rayz this season. The Bucks beat Corpus Christi 3-2 in their home opener at the LEC on 10/29. James Hiebert scored a pair of goals. On 12/28 Jeff Bes scored two goals as the Bucks beat the Rayz 4-2. On 01/08 Jeff Bes again scored a pair of goals as they beat the Rayz 5-1 at the American Bank Center. The Bucks pounded the Rayz 8-0 on 01/27 as Brent Cullaton and Ladislav Kouba each scored a pair of goals. On 01/28 the Bucks beat the Rayz 3-0 in Corpus Christi as Chris Grenville scored two goals. The Bucks held a 3-1 third period lead on 02/14, but lost 4-3 in a shootout at the LEC. The Rayz shutout the Bucks 3-0 on 02/24 as Scott Reid made 44 saves. On 02/25 the Bucks got a pair of goals from James Hiebert as they beat the Rayz 4-2 at the ABC. The Bucks beat the Rayz 2-1 in a shootout on 03/03 as David Lemanowicz stopped 24 of 25 shots. On 03/04 the Rayz beat the Bucks 4-1 at the ABC. On 03/19 the Bucks got a hat trick from Chris Grenville and four third period goals as they beat the Rayz 6-2.

2004-05: The Bucks went 7-5-0 against the Rayz, including 4-2-0 at the LEC. The home loss on 11/27/04 by the score of 3-2 against Corpus was the first ever suffered by the Bucks at the LEC against the Rayz.

All-time: The Bucks are 36-11-1 against Corpus Christi, outscoring the Rayz 202-109. The Bucks are 21-3-1 at the LEC against Corpus.

HART NAMED KOZUBACK AWARD WINNER

- Bucks Governor / Owner Glenn Hart was selected on Tuesday as the Rick Kozuback Award winner. The award is presented annually to the CHL owner, front office staff member, coach or player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, determination and commitment to the game, sport and business of hockey.

RUSKOWSKI CAPTURES COACHING HONOR

- Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski was named the 2005-06 CHL Coach of the Year on Wednesday. Ruskowski finished second in the 2003-04 CHL Coach of the Year balloting in the closest vote in league history.

DUBE CAPTURES MOST OUTSTANDING DEFENSEMAN

- Bucks defenseman Serge Dube was named on Thursday as the CHL's Most Outstanding Defenseman. It is the second time in franchise history the Bucks had had the CHL's Most Outstanding Defenseman as Dube joins fellow Buck Michel Periard in 2002-03.

MOORE TAKES TOP HONORS

- On Wednesday Bucks athletic trainer Booby Moore was selected as the 2005-06 CHL Athletic Trainer of the Year. The award was voted on by his peers.

HONORED BUCKS

- Monday Bucks defenseman Serge Dube was selected to the All-CHL team. Also on Monday Laredo goalie Dov Grumet-Morris and defenseman Adam Rivet were each selected to the CHL All-Rookie team.

MORE HONORED BUCKS

- On Monday Bucks forward Chris Grenville was selected as the CHL Oakley Player of the Week. Grenville scored six goals and had five assists in three games. He set a new Bucks franchise record by recording back-to-back hat tricks.

GRENVILLE RED HOT

- Bucks forward Chris Grenville has seven goals in the last three games and nine goals in the last six contests. He registered a hat trick for the second straight game on Sunday against Corpus Christi in a 6-2 win after doing it on Saturday in a 7-4 road win over Austin. It was the first time in franchise history that the Bucks had a player record hat tricks in back-to-back games. On Tuesday he had the Bucks only goal in a 4-1 loss at Rio Grande Valley.

HOME SWEET HOME

- The Bucks won their 26th home game of the regular season on Sunday by the score of 6-2 over Corpus Christi. The Bucks have the most home wins in the CHL this season. Colorado and Odessa are tied for second with 22.

WELCOME BACK

- Forward James Hiebert was suspended by the CHL for three games from 03/10-03/17. He returned with a goal and three assists last Saturday, then had three more helpers on Sunday.

FORTY FOR THE THIRD TIME

- The Bucks won their fortieth game of the season last Saturday night, 7-4 over Austin. The Bucks have won 40 games or more in three of four seasons.

BUCKS ON POWER PLAY

- Laredo had scored in five straight games on the power play, until going 0-3 on Tuesday in RGV. The Bucks are eight for their last 24 on the man advantage.

LIMITED POWER PLAY CHANCES

- The Bucks have had just 75 total power play chances in the last 18 games (4.17 per game).

NOT A LOT OF SHOTS

- Laredo leads the CHL allowing just 28.98 shots per game. However the Bucks have allowed their opponent thirty plus shots in seven of the last 11 games.

SEASON LOW

- The Bucks had just two power play chances on Sunday in a 6-2 win over Corpus Christi. That matched their season low, done three previous times, 03/04 at Corpus Christi, 02/24 at Corpus Christi and originally on 02/10 at Fort Worth.

BUCKS MATCH SEASON HIGH LOSS

- The Bucks fell 4-1 in Rio Grande Valley on Tuesday. The three goal loss matched the Bucks biggest defeat this season, done four times now. The Bucks also lost by three goals in a 4-1 defeat on 03/04 in Corpus Christi, on 01/13 at Bossier-Shreveport by the score of 3-0 and 02/24 at Corpus Christi also by the score of 3-0.

SEASON HIGH SHOTS ALLOWED

- The Bucks allowed a season high 45 shots on Tuesday night in a 4-1 loss to Rio Grande Valley. The total eclipsed the previous season high of 39 in regulation set on 10/21 at Colorado and 12/18 at RGV. In the 12/18 game RGV finished with 43 shots counting overtime.

WIN STREAK

- The Bucks had won five straight games until falling 4-1 in RGV on Tuesday. The Bucks streak matched their season high accomplished four separate times this year.

- 03/21/06 - TUESDAY - @ RIO GRANDE VALLEY - The Laredo Bucks fell 4-1 to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Tuesday night at the Dodge Arena in front of a sellout crowd of 5,700. The loss ended the Bucks season high tying five game win streak. Laredo is 41-15-6 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 88 points. David Lemanowicz allowed four goals on 45 shots and took the loss to drop to 17-5-3. Evan Lindsay stopped 30 of 31 shots and improved to 24-17-4. FINAL SCORE Rio Grande Valley 4, Laredo 1.

- 03/19/06 - SUNDAY - vs. CORPUS CHRISTI - The Laredo Bucks got a hat trick from forward Chris Grenville for the second straight night as they beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 6-2 in front of 5,140 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center on Sunday. Grenville scored the sixth goal of the night to give everyone in the building a free frosty courtesy of Wendy's and also become the Bucks franchise leader in career hat tricks with five. Laredo has won five straight and nine of 10 to improve to 41-14-6 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 88 points. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 26 of 28 shots and got the win to improve to 17-5-2. Scott Reid allowed five goals on 38 shots and fell to 15-17-3. FINAL SCORE Laredo 6, Corpus Christi 2.

- 03/18/06 - SATURDAY - @ AUSTIN - The Laredo Bucks set a franchise record by scoring three goals in the span of 29 seconds in the second period to rally for a 7-4 win over the Austin Ice Bats on Saturday night in front of 2,134 fans at the Bell County Expo Center. Chris Grenville had a hat trick as the Bucks won their fourth straight game and eighth in the last nine tries. Laredo is 40-14-6 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 86 points. David Lemanowicz stopped 28 of 32 shots and got the win to improve to 17-4-3. Matt Barnes allowed six goals on 38 shots and fell to 9-14-2. FINAL SCORE Laredo 7, Austin 4.

- 03/17/06 - FRIDAY - vs. MEMPHIS - The Laredo Bucks beat the Memphis RiverKings 3-1 on St. Patrick's Day in front of 5,790 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center on Friday. The win was the Bucks third straight and their seventh win in the last eight games. Laredo is 39-14-6 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 84 points. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 20 of 21 shots and got the win to improve to 16-5-2. Guy St. Vincent played well, stopping 41 of 44 shots, but took the loss to fall to 11-19-2. FINAL SCORE Laredo 3, Memphis 1.
