Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Central Hockey League announced today that the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs' Ken Carroll has been named the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender in 2006. The award is the second such honor in Carroll's career after being named WPHL Goaltender and Rookie of the Year in 2001.
Presented annually to the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender in memory of former CHL goaltender and Corpus Christi employee Scott Brower, the award was voted on by the CHL coaches, communications staff members, and selected media members in each market.
This season, the Oil City, Ontario native has already won two Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Month awards, been voted as the goaltender on the 2006 All-CHL Team, was selected to play in his third straight CHL All-Star Game, and was voted the league's best goaltender in the 2006 "Best of the Best" poll. He is currently 20-7-4 overall with a 2.31 goals against average, a .921 save percentage, and a league-leading four shutouts. Carroll has won his last 12 starts and has not lost in regulation since January 3rd. He has reached the 20-win mark for the fifth time in his five-year Mudbugs career and is the Mudbugs' all-time leader in wins with 121.
"We're all very proud of Kenny for another great season," said Head Coach Scott Muscutt. "He's the foundation of our team and has been putting up amazing numbers since he came to Bossier-Shreveport. This year was no different and our success started with his play. I know he's looking forward to the playoffs coming up and his leadership will be crucial at this time of year."
Carroll's played helped lead the Mudbugs to a stretch of 18 games without a regulation loss through January, February, and early March as well as their third straight Northeast Division title. In the month of February, the sixth-year pro went 8-0-0 in eight games with a 2.25 goals against average.
Tonight, the Mudbugs will host the Memphis RiverKings in their regular season home finale at 7:05 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center. Tomorrow night, the Mudbugs' final regular season game will be played at Tulsa against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:35 p.m. For more information, please call 318-752-BUGS.
