
E-Twins Rout G-Reds 13-1 in Series Opener

Elizabethton, Tennessee - The Elizabethton Twins' bats got to work early Wednesday night, scoring seven runs in the first four innings and adding more late to beat the Greeneville Reds 13-1.
Eight of the nine E-Twins in the starting lineup recorded a hit, while eight scored a run and five different players drove in runs.
Ruben Santana, Seth Gray and Willie Joe Garry Jr. each not only recorded three-hit games, but drove in three runs as well. Santana and Garry Jr. each scored two runs, while Charles Mack drew three walks and scored all three times, catcher Jangison Villalobos scored two runs as well in the game.
Garry Jr. opened up the scoring in the second inning with a two-run triple and kicked off a five-run fourth inning as well with an RBI single. Santana then tripled in Mack and Garry Jr., Gray singled home Santana and Matt Wallner drove home Gray.
Gray brought home two more runs with a double in the fifth inning and Santana, Anthony Prato and Parker Phillips each brought home runs in the seventh to put the game well beyond reach for Greeneville.
Not only did the offense put in work, but Elizabethton's pitching was outstanding, limiting Greeneville to six hits and just one walk.
Ben Gross earned his third win of the season, pitching six innings with just five hits and a walk, allowing only an unearned run. Denny Bentley followed him with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts.
Left fielder Max Smith, who pitched four games in his sophomore season in 2017 at UNLV, became the first E-Twin position player to pitch in 2019, throwing a 1-2-3 ninth inning to finish off the Reds.
Elizabethton looks for a series win Thursday night, a 6:30 p.m. start from Greeneville with Andriu Marin scheduled to start for the Twins.
