
Dyer Has Two Hits in 5-1 Loss on Saturday

Asheville, North Carolina - Matthew Dyer had two hits and drove in the lone run for the Bowling Green Hot Rods (74-50, 33-26) in a 5-1 loss to the Asheville Tourists (58-66, 32-27) at McCormick Field on Saturday night. The Tourists and Hot Rods will play the series finale on Sunday with a 5:05 PM CT first pitch.
The Asheville Tourists jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second thanks to a two-run homer, but BG got a run back in the top of the third. Mason Auer worked a two-out walk against Asheville starter Ryan Gusto and scored when Matthew Dyer doubled off the left-centerfield wall to make it a 2-1 game.
The Tourists scored a run in each of the next two innings, adding another in the eighth, and while BG had two baserunners thanks to walks in the ninth, the effort fell short in a 5-1 loss.
Nathan Wiles (1-2) allowed four runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts in a loss. Antonio Menendez tossed 2.1 innings out of the bullpen, allowing one run, one hit, and one walk with two strikeouts.
Notes: Wiles set a new career-high with 5.2 innings... He also allowed a career-high 11 hits... Dyer had his ninth multi-hit game of the season... The Tourists clinched a series win with Saturday's setback to Bowling Green, the fourth of the series... BG is 10-7 against Asheville this season... They're 9-14 at McCormick Field all-time... BG is 33-15 in games decided by four or more runs this season... The two teams will play the series finale on Sunday with a 5:05 PM CT first pitch... RH Victor Muñoz (3-2, 3.08) will start for the Hot Rods while RH Rhett Kouba (5-2, 4.53) takes the mound for the Tourists...
